We offer day hikes for families with fun activities for kids. Learn about wildlife, eat "lemon drop" ants, and use butterfly nets. Complimentary children's activity books complete the adventure.

We are Jackson Hole's premier hiking tour company and have been offering tours in this region since 1989. We specialize in customized trips with expert naturalists. We'll take you off the beaten path to explore the more peaceful corners of the valley and beyond. Our knowledgeable staff will educate you on the flora and fauna, geology and history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Our small group sizes and variety of tours cater to all ages and abilities.

The Explorer

Trip Length: 4 hours
Rating: moderate to easy - perfect for families

Our half-day tours depart at 8 am, 1 pm or 5:30 pm. Bottled water, snacks, transportation, and the use of fanny packs and binoculars are included.
1-2 people in group: $225 total
3 or more: $84 per adult, $68 per child (12 and under)

Wildlife Immersion- Grand Teton Park / Nature Walk on Shadow Mountain

Trip Length: 6 hours
Rating: easy - perfect for families

Join Jackson’s original nature company to explore Grand Teton Park to see animals and connect to the landscape with a nature walk! Visit mixed habitats to see wildlife, birds and much more. Then, a nature walk on Shadow Mountain- perfect wildlife habitat, with amazing photo opportunities with unparelled Teton views.

6 AM- Noon-   includes a great naturalist guide, transportation from a convenient meeting place, binoculars and spotting scope, water bottles, snacks, interpretive materials, and activity books for all children.

The Trekker

Trip length: 6 hours
Rating: all abilities

Tours depart at 8 am. You can schedule a 6 am departure to enjoy the peaceful early morning hours and increase the chances of wildlife viewing. Bottled water, lunch and snacks, transportation, and the use of fanny packs and binoculars are included.
1-2 people in group: $315 total
3 or more: $120 per adult, $100 per child

 

Natural Synergy

Join owner, Cathy Shill, to experience the synergistic flow found in the natural world. With insight and awareness, you can make your time on the trail more beneficial and rejuvenating. By connecting to your senses and thoughts, you can walk from a place of presence to flow with universal energy. She will share experiences and a path to awareness. Tours recommended to depart at 7 am.

Yoga/Hike

Join biologist and yoga instructor, Jill LeBlanc, to explore nature and the connection between breath and body. After hiking to a scenic spot and learning about the natural world, you will enjoy a yoga practice customized to your level. With a variety of yoga poses, Jill will touch your inner self and the spaciousness within. As your energy grows so does your awareness of the natural world and yourself. Join us to reach your next level surrounded by nature's beauty.

Alpine Adventure

Tour price plus tram ticket

Combine one of our tours with an aerial tram ride to 10,400 feet! Surrounded by breathtaking views, you will discover the subalpine and alpine environments: fossils, cushion plants, animals and birds. (July through September)

 

The Mountaineer

Trip length: 8 hours
Rating: moderate to strenuous

Spend the day in the backcountry with a naturalist guide. Due to the duration of this tour, you can get further into the backcountry to summit a peak or explore a remote alpine lake. Distances vary from 9-14 miles with varying elevation gain. Hike customized to your level.
Tours depart at 8 am.
1-2 people in group: $420 total

Granite Hot Springs Tour

Trip length: 7 hours
Rating: easy

Spend a day with a naturalist guide experiencing a fun hike, lunch, and a relaxing soak in a natural hot spring. You'll hike for several miles along Granite Creek with its beaver ponds, cascading water, mountain views and natural hot springs. After the hike, you will soak in the hot pool and have a tasty lunch. Tour departs at 8 am. May, June, September and October are the most ideal months.
1-2 people in group: $350 total
3 or more-$145 per adult, $115 per child

 

Experience Fall (September & October only)

Trip length: 4 hours
Rating: all abilities

Combine a wildlife tour with short walks to maximize leaf peeping and fall wildlife behavior patterns. We'll drive through scenic Grand Teton National Park and hike the Gros Ventre Slide to view spectacular highlights of Jackson Hole. The grand finale will be listening to and watching the fall rut of the Bull Elk. We provide spotting scope, binoculars, snacks, bottled water and a naturalist guide. Tour departs at 4 pm.
$120 per adult, $99 per child, excludes park admission fee

COMBINATION TOURS

 

Hiking and Flyfishing on the Snake River (May through October only)

Trip length: all day
Rating: all abilities

Combine a guided morning hike with an afternoon of casting for native cutthroat trout on the Snake River. Meet your naturalist hiking guide at the Home Ranch parking lot at 8 am to head off for a short hike where you'll learn about the wildlife, plants and flowers, and the ecology of Jackson Hole. Bottled water, snacks, transportation, and the use of fanny packs and binoculars are included. After time for lunch, it is off to the river with Jackson Hole Anglers where you will spend the afternoon floating and fishing from your private drift boat. Your expert guide will provide you with all the gear and instructions you will need to cast, catch and release. Beginners and experts alike will cast away as bald eagles and osprey soar overhead. Multiple guides and boats available for groups.
$275 per adult, 2 person minimum, excludes park admission fee, flies and WY Fishing License

Wings and Walk- perfect for families!

Trip length: 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM, Available Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday

Combine a guided hike with a visit to the Teton Raptor Center. Meet your naturalist hiking guide at 8:00 am, then journey into the wild to explore the natural world and discover wildlife, flowers, natural history and the ecology of Jackson Hole. Afterwards, you will visit the Teton Raptor Center to learn about raptors and a possible demonstration flight (weather permitting). Bottled water, snacks, transportation, lunch, all fees, and the use of fanny packs/backpacks and binoculars are included

The Hole Boat: Hiking and Rafting (May 23 through September 20, 2014)

Trip length: approximately 8 hours
Rating: all abilities

Combine a guided morning hike with an afternoon whitewater rafting trip. Meet your naturalist hiking guide at the Home Ranch parking lot at 8 am to head off to the mountains where you'll learn about the wildlife, plants and flowers, and the ecology of Jackson Hole. Bottled water, snacks, transportation, and the use of fanny packs and binoculars are included. After time for lunch, it is off to the river with Barker-Ewing River Trips for your 8-mile Whitewater Adventure.  Meet the raft guides at 945 W. Broadway by 1:15 pm and plan to get wet!  Downstream rapids like Three Oar Deal, Big Kahuna, Lunch Counter, Ropes and Champagne are waiting to thrill you.  You will return to town by 5:30 pm.

Wildlife and Fish- Explore Grand Teton Park and Flyfish on the Snake River

Trip length: approximately 8 hours
Rating: all abilities

The Hole Hiking Experience has partnered with Jackson Hole Anglers to provide a great day in scenic Grand Teton Park and on the majestic Snake River. Starting at approximately 6 AM you will journey into Grand Teton Park to explore mixed habitats and look for wildlife with a knowledgeable naturalist guide. We will visit scenic parts of the Park which are home to elk, moose, deer, coyotes, bison, bears, wolves, eagles, and osprey. All group sizes are small so everyone gets a window seat while driving. After time for lunch, you will be met by your fishing guide for an afternoon on the Snake River. From a private drift boat, you will join an expert guide to catch the native cutthroat trout. Rods and reels provided and any needed instruction.

Tours include a naturalist guide, transportation from a convenient meeting place, optics water bottles, snacks, rod and reel. It does not include fishing license, flies and lures, park entry fee or gratuities.

We personalize each tour to fit your ability and interests so our rates are based on how many people are in the your hiking group. We then promote your ideal tour to others and if we can mix the group, your rate is reduced. This ensures a customized hiking tour. Private tours are also available. Please inquire.

All tour necessities are provided except sturdy hiking shoes and proper layered clothing.

Child rate is for children 12 and under unless otherwise noted.

Due to our customized schedule, refunds cannot be made within 48 hours of your scheduled departure time. Special and multi-day programs have separate reservation policies.
