Everyone enjoyed the camping/hot spring excursion! We drove about five hours along the Mo Chuu river to 7800 feet. Along the way, we purchased freshly harvested rice and visited two farms where we got fresh guavas, oranges and mushrooms. The camp was set when we arrived. It was luxury camping with tasty food, evening fire, hot springs along the river, and comfortable tents.
On our full day we hiked to the Gaza Dzong about 1500 feet above camp. Some avid hikers continued toward Laya pass. Some returned to camp to read and relax. I joined some fellow campers to descend to the medicinal hot pools. There were three options and we chose the hottest. It’s a favorite spot among locals so quite a popular place.
After soaking our bones, we climbed about 600 feet back to camp to have a tasty Bhutanese dinner with about six dishes- rice, pasta, chilis, chicken, squash, cauliflower, broccoli, and tasty soup to start. We aren’t going hungry and the camping food was awesome!
