Trek to Macchu Picchu- a sacred journey

November 18, 2013

The mountains call to me. My heart soars when I trek in the high country connected to earth and sky.  Having the opportunity to interpret and guide tours in Jackson, Wyoming fulfills my life and The Hole Hiking Experience became a reality 25 years ago.

During our slower times of the year, I leave this beautiful valley to follow my inner call to the mountains of the world. I have been fortunate to guide tours in Bhutan and continue to share this amazing country. Rich in tradition and Buddhist philosophy, it leaves a memorable and often life-changing experience. As a guide, I lead and steer our ship as we explore, discover and connect to nature, new cultures, and people.

Peru 1 (800x600)This fall, my travels took me to Peru.  My friend turned 45 and we celebrated with a trek and a nature excursion in the amazon. We traveled to the sacred Andes to follow the steps of the Incas, the lost civilization. We hiked to Macchu Picchu and entered this sacred area through the sun gate. The steps led the way and the energy resonated with so many before us as we partook on this pilgrimage. We honored the earth and the sky with a sacred ritual. The clouds cleared to share the high peaks- the male and female- all was in balance. Our hearts soared, then the clouds returned, teaching us that goodness, spirit, intention, compassion and universal connection is always present even if you can’t see it.

Macchu Picchu resonates with the sacred.  You see the engineering and structural placement to align with earth and sky.  You can feel the pulsating energy of the area.  It’s a journey within- to learn of ourselves, our placement in the world, and our intention in this life. It offers freedom, emptiness, and the unbending support of the natural world.DSCN1832 (800x533) It was quite a journey. I will return to share this amazing area.  I am available to lead so send an email and we’ll plan your trip. I can be reached at info@holehike.com.

Next blog will continue to the Amazon…
